I’ve been watching YouTube vlogs and Instagram posts of people recapping their year. With less than an hour and a half left before 2023 steps on the scene, I thought I too will reflect on this past year.
Not gonna lie, 2022 was a trying year for me. But it seems like almost every year has been for me in the last, I don’t know, two and a half decades. I set a lot of goals that I didn’t accomplish, a couple that I did. But there were a lot of lessons learned, some relearned, even more still learning.
On the plus side, I met some interesting people this year. Attended parties with good food. Got a job after being out of work for the longest. Got on a plane for the first time in five years. Got to spend some time with my sister’s dog before he died. I’m not a pet person, I’m not sure I’ll ever want one of my own, but that dog was a good friend (though sometimes two-faced) when he was around and I loved him. There are other blessings that remind me of the goodness of God that I’m in no mood to list here.
I’ll just say, on this rainy night in Southern California, it looks like I’m going to make it into 2023, I’m grateful for the opportunity and hope that I don’t waste it.
One way or another, I think I won’t.
And since I find it tre annoying when people say happy New Year when it’s still the end of the current year, for now I’ll just say see you next year.
Here’s to new beginnings!
