As I\u2019ve mentioned before, one of my favorite YouTube Channels is CNBC Make It.\u00a0 I like it because it showcases millennials (which I am not, by the way \u2013 Gen Xer here) with comfortable incomes ( or at least most of them have comfortable incomes) and how they make and spend their money.\u00a0 Since I\u2019m writing this last minute \u2013 like I write mostly everything on here \u2013 I don\u2019t have time to look this girl up. Just know she was the girl featured on that channel who made like 141K, I believe, and she said something like she used to be a drug addict. I\u2019ll go back and update for accuracy, but I was like damn. How do you go from being on drugs to making $141, 000 a year?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taking drugs is a bad habit that usually goes hand and hand with other bad habits, like not getting shit done, so I\u2019m like how the fuck did she make that switch? I mean, I\u2019ve never taken drugs \u2013 all though one could say I\u2019m addict to junk food \u2013 and I have a hard enough time disciplining myself to pursue my purpose, so I\u2019m just baffled at how she did it while on drugs. I mean I think that it\u2019s great that she did it, her transformation is admirable. Whatever she did, I guess it\u2019s not something that can be wrapped up in a 10-minute video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s part of the reason I\u2019m doing this blog. It\u2019s because we always see successful people after they\u2019ve become a success. We never meet them during the struggle. Consequently, even though we may hear about their humble beginnings, once we become aware of them, they are so far removed from that, that it’s still difficult to relate. I can relate to the dreams but I can\u2019t relate to achieving them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can relate to rejection, and failing, and being discouraged and giving up. But I can also relate to trying again. I\u2019ve yet to win, but I never fail to try again. It may take me months, it may take me years, but I always try again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But when you have more L\u2019s in your column than W\u2019s the try comes with an additional ball and chain. I think in the last few years, I\u2019m just beginning to understand what it means to be a doer and not just a dreamer. I\u2019m beginning to see how dreams alone actually end up fueling your frustration. But this whole doing thing is so new I don\u2019t even know where to begin. There is no road map, I\u2019m making it up as I go, and, and, I don\u2019t know\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a challenge. It\u2019s funny how I could get up and go to work, be on time and do a great job at a job I can\u2019t stand, but when it comes to putting that same effort into pursuing my purpose, I repeatedly fall short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But I guess that\u2019s how it goes when something\u2019s new. I guess I just need to cut myself some slack, or no, more like hold myself accountable, and just keep going. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
