I’m actually writing a work of fiction right now that I’m trying to finish up, so I thought I’d share with you a couple of works of fiction I wrote three years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was for a contest I entered (I didn’t win) where you had to write a short story in 100 words or less — the top prize $20,000 — you could submit up to two. The first one I called Reckless Abandon the second never got a name. But the thing is, I was so nervous about submitting these stories that I forgot to include a title with either one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first one appears here exactly how I submitted it back in November of 2017, I think it was. The second one I’ve updated a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
So without further ado, here are two short stories, in 100 words or less…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story #1<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For ten years she gave her all to a thankless job that she\u2019d grown to become resentful of. Then one morning she shifted her perspective, forcing herself to get excited about going to work. She walked in the office in high-spirits, and soon after was fired without warning. Her life savings, $20,586.37, was in the bank. Immediately, she used it to take a long-coveted, dream vacation. Returning home, she had cancellation letters in her mailbox, an eviction notice on her door, and $100 to her name. But in her mind, she was already planning her next trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Story #2<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Terra is overweight, but her boyfriend is quite fit, which made her feel self-conscious. \u00a0Yet every time she shared this with him, he always said, \u201cI love you just the way you are.\u201d Then one night over dinner, she casually mentioned starting a workout routine to lose weight. Enthusiastically he replied, \u201cHere\u2019s what you do. Cut a hole in the top of a trash bag, then put it over your head while you go for a run. It\u2019ll help you sweat more.
