I came to talk about last week\u2019s post, that was hella late, it\u2019s not my favorite topic to write about. I hate talking about race, and there was a lot of race talk in last week\u2019s hella late post. Yet it is such an important topic. It\u2019s a topic that plays a significant role in my life, and therefore I have to talk about it. And that Peacock show \u201cKilling It\u201d gave me the perfect opportunity. Still I approached it with trepidation because, well, I hate talking about race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ouch, these braids are kinda tight in my head right now, but that\u2019s neither here nor there. By the way, how did that expression \u2013 neither here nor there — become popular? And like what does it really mean? I understand it\u2019s contextual meaning, but I don\u2019t understand how it was placed in that context\u2026anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enough with the tangents. Perhaps I\u2019m trying to avoid writing this. Moving right along, last week\u2019s post was inspired by being in the screening room for the show \u201cKilling It\u201d and not thinking the jokes centered around racism were funny. So basically, I just wanted to give some examples from film and TV where I thought race was handled better. Where I thought racism was taken more seriously and not just made into jokes for jokes sake if you will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I struggled a bit with how I wanted to come across. I didn\u2019t want to say that they couldn\u2019t do it, maybe not even that they shouldn\u2019t do it, but rather just to express my opinion that I thought the way they handled race was in poor taste, and also a bit irresponsible if you ask me, which obviously you are, because why else would you be reading?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time I didn\u2019t want to be too preachy, so I thought I would open the post with an overview of what it was like being at the event in it\u2019s entirety, not just the screening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okay, that\u2019s all I have for you this week. The previous post was really long, so I\u2019ll give you a small bite this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
