And she is me.  It\u2019s 10:18pm and here I find myself, once again, writing at the very last minute, trying to achieve my goal of posting every day for the month of October. This is unnecessary stress I\u2019m putting myself through when I can just plan ahead.  Believe it or not, I did plan ahead to some extent. This week\u2019s posts were supposed to be all about my self-publishing journey, where I am in the process and so forth. But since I didn\u2019t get my fired story out last week, I gotta squeeze that in this week. That shouldn\u2019t be too hard, because I haven\u2019t done much in the way of self-publishing.  I think I may want to put one last edit on my story myself before I hire an editor, but before I hire an editor I have to do a bunch of research to see what that even entails, and make sure I get someone good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lately I\u2019ve been really into finding out more about Rich Paul<\/a>. I mean I\u2019ve heard of him before, vaguely \u2013 knew that he\u2019s dating Adele<\/a>, but even with that bit of information I didn\u2019t know who he was. I thought Rich Paul was like his rap name or something \u2018cause I don\u2019t be knowin\u2019 who these young rappers are now days. If you younger than Drake<\/a>, I don\u2019t know you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But turns out, he\u2019s closer to my age. He\u2019s 41, and he doesn\u2019t rap at all — he\u2019s a sports agent, and a CEO of his company. And, get this, his name is<\/em> actually Rich Paul. While scrolling through Instagram, I saw a clip of him at a conference. I then went and found the whole interview on YouTube<\/a>. Then I Wikipedia\u2019d him<\/a> and read some of the articles about him that they reference there\u2026you know, the ones that didn\u2019t have a pay wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I don\u2019t know, I find him to be so fascinating. His story is so fascinating. Even how he got started \u2013 LeBron James peeped a jersey he had on while they were strangers in the airport and went up to him and the rest is history. I\u2019ve always been a fan of LeBron James\u2019 business acumen. Even if Rich Paul may be the brains behind some of his decisions, LBJ still had the good sense to take Rich\u2019s advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LeBron was a fucking teenager, I believe, when he met Rich. Rich just happened to be in the right place at the right time. That\u2019s kinda how I\u2019m hoping it will be with me and my editor. I hope I can just run into the right person at the right time. Most people in that sports agency field have degrees, but not Rich. Yet according to the 60 Minutes interview<\/a> I watched of him today, he\u2019s responsible for some $4 Billion in contracts for athletes. That\u2019s not to discredit credentials or someone\u2019s resume, but I\u2019ve been around enough people with degrees, \u201cexperience\u201d and titles behind their names to know that that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean shit about somebody\u2019s ability to perform well at their job.\u00a0 I\u2019m out here tryin\u2019 to run into a Rich Paul book editor, and we can come up together like he and LeBron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But anyway, that\u2019s what I need to be doing this week: I need to research and find a book editor, I need to finish my fired story and I need to establish a routine and also carve out some time to look for work \u2013 they make you do that when you get unemployment. Oh, and create and stick to a budget. I figure I can use my unemployment for my living expenses and my savings to finance my book publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m thinking I can get up every day at 6 or 7am (I\u2019ve turned into a night owl again as of late. I\u2019m talking going to sleep at like 4, 5 in the morning) do my Bible study, do some exercise and write. I\u2019ll do my laundry on Tuesdays and clean on Saturdays. Maybe do errands on Wednesdays to get out the house, and I don\u2019t know. I have to come up with something, \u2018cause this writing at the very last-minute thing ain\u2019t it. It\u2019s so much easier when you establish a routine, you can just go on autopilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s also that I just get so easily distracted sometimes. Like as of late, I\u2019ve been really into planning outfits for my upcoming trip to Seattle. Lately, I\u2019ve been really into the pleated midi-skirt with high top converse look. So I\u2019ve been scouring the internet, looking for outfits that I want to recreate \u2013 with my own little spin on it of course \u2013 for my trip. I\u2019ve been thinking about the places I will visit and what I want to look like when I\u2019m there and what I want my pictures to look like, and that has been more fun that trying to write. Really, I\u2019m obsessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quick story: I remember back in the day, when I used to go to these journalism conferences, because I wanted to work in journalism \u2013 still do to some extent \u2013 and I would spend so much time getting my outfits right. First I\u2019d pour through magazines for inspo, then I\u2019d go to every mall, Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls to get the perfect looks. I\u2019d get my hair done, my makeup would be flawless. I\u2019d get to the conference and walk tall and proud and get so many compliments, yet I spent so much time on the way that I looked that I didn\u2019t have my resume together, and I didn\u2019t practice talking to people that had the potential to hire me, only to get in front of them sometimes and sound like a bumbling idiot, or just be too nervous, just be unprepared. So anyway, that\u2019s my story the moral of which is I have to be sure to put things into perspective. We\u2019ll see. Cheers to the week ahead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
