I started searching for an editor today, and I gotta tell you it was exhausting. I\u2019m pretty anal when it comes to shit like that (no pun intended \u2013 do people even use the term anal anymore?). I\u2019ve come to realize that I am a perfectionist to some degree\u2026okay maybe to a lot of degree and I think that just comes from being afraid of getting it wrong. Especially since I have a limited budget, I can\u2019t afford to fuck up. I can\u2019t afford to send my work off to somebody who pretends they edited it when they really didn\u2019t. Who lets a bunch of errors go uncorrected. Who simply does a poor job. Like after I pay this person, if they don\u2019t get the job done right, where I\u2019m gon get the money to hire another one? That\u2019s my worry, that\u2019s my apprehension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And, of course, I also don\u2019t know anyone in this business, so it\u2019s not like I can ask a friend. Not like I can be like, Hey who edited your self-published book? So I have to do research and go through the motions of contacting the person, requesting samples, maybe giving them an editing test. But at the end of the day what it all comes down to is trusting myself and trusting God. Ultimately, I just have to believe that after I do my part, God will help me align with the best person for the job. So I\u2019ll be back at that again tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tomorrow is going to be a sort of busy day for me. I need to get my car smog tested, then go to the DMV to renew my registration. I also need to go to the store, get ingredients for dinner then cook dinner, oh, and write here again too. It\u2019s 10:51pm right now. This coming here last minute every day is for the birds. It is really wearing down on me. What I need to be doing is writing a few posts a day and then just schedule the publishing. In order to do that I guess I need to get more organized. But anyway, that is the goal before this month is out. Actually, that was the goal before I even got started, but I didn\u2019t get my fire story out and it just snowballed from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking of my fired story, I owe you it by the end of this week, and the end of this week is Saturday. I think I\u2019m going to do a super abridging version coupled with lessons I learned and keep it pushing. I so want to move on from that\u2026but you know, not too fast. Not before I get everything out of it that I can. I want to be able to answer the question What did that come to teach me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
