I used to love that song, \u201cYou Don\u2019t Know My Name,\u201d by Alicia Keys when it came out in the early 2000s \u2013 the inspiration for part of today\u2019s title. I thought it apropos because you, reader, don\u2019t know my name\u2026well, most of you don\u2019t\u2026at least some of you don\u2019t\u2026or maybe I should just leave it at I don\u2019t post my name, because these days people can find anything whether I post my name or not. I really don\u2019t know how many of you know my name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I purposely don\u2019t put my name on this blog for several reasons, but mainly because I don\u2019t want to be associated with it. It\u2019s not perfect. It\u2019s not up to my standards. I mean of course it could be worse, but it could definitely be better, so I guess I just don\u2019t want to be judged by it. I guess ultimately I just don\u2019t want to have to meet people face to face who\u2019s read my blog. But in today\u2019s tech savvy world people know how to uncover my name whether I give it to them or not, so there\u2019s that. Plus, you know nowadays when you meet people at networking events, they don\u2019t ask for your phone number or email like the used to do, they ask are you on Instagram. Why I don\u2019t lie, I don\u2019t know. But the people I meet at events are probably not reading anyway, plus I pretty much never see them again, so it\u2019s not as bad as say a coworker (I know some from past jobs had gotten to it) reading it. But I don\u2019t have those now either so\u2026It\u2019s just the thought of people I see on a regular basis reading it that irks me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But anyway, this is the beginnings of a marketing story (the other part of that long ass title) and it recently dawned on me that if I\u2019m going to market this book, I will have to reveal my name, and so, I\u2019ll be doing that soon. But in the meantime, I\u2019ll continue to bask in the comfort of you not knowing my name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anywho, oddly enough, I didn\u2019t think much about creating a marketing strategy when I embarked on this self-publishing journey. Now I\u2019m kind of excited about creating one. I actually think that marketing just might be the fun part. Because overall this process has been grueling and riddled with anxiety. Of course many factors have contributed to that as well. Nothing happens within a vacuum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, to accommodate the marketing campaign, I think I might have to push my pub date out till August. I don\u2019t want to do that, but I\u2019m thinking I will probably need about three months to market it. But I don\u2019t know. We\u2019ll see. I\u2019ve been doing some research which seems to suggest three months of marketing may not be necessary, so yeah, we\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But yeah, that\u2019s all I got for this Sunday. I just haven\u2019t been in the mood to write as of late \u2013 feeling very sluggish and tired a lot lately. I just ordered an elliptical\/stationary bike off of Amazon yesterday which should be arriving soon, so I\u2019m happy about that. I haven\u2019t been getting out much or exercising. I used to go for walks much more, but I\u2019ve just not been in the mood. We used to have an elliptical like this before and I rode it quite frequently. I even built muscle and loss weight, so I\u2019m hoping to repeat or surpass those previous results. I have a great playlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
