Like yesterday, today I\u2019m just going to dive right into to. My neck is feeling better by the way \u2013 still some residual pain though. But enough about me now, let\u2019s talk about me then, as in November 6, 2021, when I wrote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spelling, Grammar and Sentence Structure Critiques<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cthem\u201d in the second paragraph refers to the CDs but kinda seems like it\u2019s referring to the parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third paragraph, I say I\u2019ll have to find the clip where Tabitha S. says Tupac was hitting on her and link it later, but I never did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My transition for the third paragraph to the fourth was a bit abrupt, even as I used the word \u201cbut\u201d to unify it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last paragraph there\u2019s no need for the comma behind \u201chad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General thoughts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I first read it back, I didn\u2019t check to see how long the story was, I just started reading it. Once I finished, my first thought was that it was too short. It seemed like it was an introduction to a more in-depth article, when in actuality it was over.  In some ways, perhaps that\u2019s a good thing because I wanted more. However in other ways, it wasn\u2019t a good thing, because it felt incomplete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I learned about myself through this piece.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wish I would have talked more about what I thought of the interview itself, instead I focused mainly on the fact that there was an interview at all. I was just so enamored with the fact that that interview with Tupac was Tabitha Soren\u2019s job, that I didn\u2019t dive into the meat of the interview, like the questions she asked, and his answers.  I had no commentary on the interview\u2019s substance. Then again, the whole point of this series was to highlight interviews that meant something to me, that influenced me, and made me interested in journalism. So in this case I don\u2019t know that it was the substance of the interview, but rather the fact that she got to do the interview at all that I was fascinated by. Just in retrospect, I would have liked to read more about the interview. Looking back, I don\u2019t like how envious I was. Right now I don\u2019t want to be envious of anybody\u2019s anything. I want to seize the opportunities that are before me, look for the opportunities that are within my reach and\/or create them. I\u2019m fine with being inspired, but I don\u2019t want to envy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sentences I liked<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And thus you have Tabitha Soren doing an interview with Tupac right when he was \u201cout on bail, fresh out of jail,\u201d no need for California dreamin\u2019, this was her reality, and my envy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I like the above sentence for it\u2019s play on the lyrics to Tupac\u2019s verse in the hit song \u201cCalifornia Love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if video killed the radio star, social media took out MTV.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I like this sentence because references a bit of history, but only if you\u2019re in the know. \u201cVideo Killed the Radio Star\u201d by song by The Buggles was the first video ever played on MTV<\/a> back in 1981. So this sentence was a play on history repeating itself with one medium rendering it\u2019s predecessor less relevant, in that what MTV did to radio, social media did to MTV. All though I would argue that radio has kept it\u2019s staying power, even if it has decrease, while I don\u2019t hear anybody talking about a video they saw on MTV anymore. I don\u2019t even think MTV plays videos anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So those are my thoughts on my third random post selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
