Wednesday Roundup on a Thursday

I know this was supposed to come sometime before midnight last night but see what had happened was, I had cramps. Cramps in my 40s have been…I’m trying to think how I should describe this. I want to say interesting, but that…well, let’s just say different. I don’t much remember my cramps in my teens. I do remember coming home from school early once, so they must have been bad. But I definitely remember them in my 20s and 30s and they were pretty intense. So much so that I started taking Tylenol, Advil, and Midol to get rid of the pain, but then when I came to my attention that that stuff can fuck with your liver, I stopped and just thugged it out every month with a heating pad. But in my 40s, it has been different. It’s volatile. It’s a hit or miss. Some months it’s painful, other months not as much. I just never know. The last few months have been more so on the not-as-much side, however yesterday that pain went back to its roots — just a throbbing, stinging sensation like a headache in my lower abdomen: so annoying. But anyway, thankfully that only happens one day during my period, so I’m fine now. I was actually going to post yesterday that there will be no post, but then I feel asleep and by the time I woke up, Wednesday was already gone. Since I didn’t post the Wednesday Roundup and I didn’t post that there would be no post, I thought it only right to post today. So there you go, and here we go…

I have never tasted a better salad than a Chinese chicken salad, or Asian chicken salad — I don’t know the proper name. All I know is that it is delicious. It’s so good it’s like even when it’s bad it’s still good. Like it’s never nasty, it can just be done better. I’ve never not eaten one. And I want to make this one. I think I would add wontons.

I’m such a fan of The Wiz, the movie. I know it’s said to not be such a good movie, not so well done, but it’s for the culture, and representation matters. I culturally identified not only with the way those people looked, but with the way they sang their songs. One of my favorite moments in the movie is the song “Be A Lion” when the lion starts to sing after Diana Ross’s verse convinced him. As he begins to sing, “I’m standing strong and tall,” you can see his disposition change. I just love it. I wish they would have showed more of the guy who plays the lion in this clip, but I still like it.

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Coming Up Next…

I’ll announce a schedule soon!

Thanks for reading!

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. — Psalm 46:4

Lord, let me be that river.
