It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another one of my roundups — that time of the week where I gather 5 social media posts that caught my attention this week. And I know last week I said I was staying off of social media for the week, well, I didn’t. It’s just that I have no friends and social media is one of my friends…well, associates. We’re not that close, it’s casual. It’s got nothing on my ace, food! Food has been there for me in the good times and the bad times, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, it is tried and true. Now everything is not always great between us. We have our trying times, but when I need it, nothing comes in quite as clutch.
Jesus: (rolls eyes).
Okay, okay, it’s Wednesday roundup time, here we go!
Okay, we’re starting off a little differently this week. I usually do Instagram posts only, but I came across this quote on YouTube and had to add it. I found this woman Clare Boothe Luce quite fascinating. I discovered her after watching a bit of a PBS documentary on William F. Buckley. He was a journalist from back in the day, and I’m quite often quite fascinated with journalists from back in the day, just because I like their line of questioning better. It just seems like they really knew how to get to the heart and soul of a person. They knew how to excavate the human condition from the perspective of the individual they were interviewing, if that makes sense. So anyway, she was one of the people he interviewed. I don’t recall if she was in the documentary or not. But I looked him up and saw her, and was interested in listening to the interview. I found him to be somewhat condescending if you ask me. And I loved what she was saying about Jesus being a feminist. I don’t agree or disagree with her, I would have to look into it more, but Jesus definitely had a heart for women that’s for sure. Anyway, I looked her up and learned that she grew up poor, then later married, not one, but two rich husbands, while also managing to have a career of her own. What makes it even more interesting to me is she’s not a stereotypically beautiful woman, so yeah. Anyway, I like this quote because it just hints at the significance of money in ones life. I think it’s especially notable coming from someone who has been both poor and rich. Because people can say money doesn’t matter, but that’s not exactly true. It may not be everything, but it matters, if for nothing else than to give you some comfort while you’re miserable.
I had to keep the caption in this one, because not going to lie, when Jennifer Hudson got kicked off of American Idol 20 years ago, I thought that was it for her. I remember her saying something like we will see her again, and I was like, no we won’t. But she bounced back and hasn’t looked back since, so to speak. I so admire her resilience and accomplishments, in the face of the opposition she experienced on that show, as well as the tragedy she endured in her personal life, but look at her now — what an inspiration.
I am a fan of ginger ale. I almost always get it one the plane. I definitely want to try this.
I don’t know if this is true, but come Friday, I’ma fuck around and find out.
Once again, I’m not gonna lie, I am not this girl all the time. I don’t know if I can even say most of the time, but I can say that I have experienced the Peace of God enough of the time to always come back for more. There is a peace that passes all understanding. Sometimes it’s quite temporal, sometimes it’s longer-lasting, but there is a peace. Thank You, Jesus!
Welp, that’s all I got for you today.
Until next time…
