Who the Fuck is Alison Roman?

Thousands more people can now answer that question correctly after her name began trending on Twitter due to an interview she did with the New Consumer – myself included.

In addition to telling her plans for the future — how she comes up with her content and such — she also managed to blast two other women in the lifestyle field for what she deemed to be selling out while also indicating that they were undeserving of their success.

But the most interesting part about it is she went hard on two Asian women – Chrissy Teigen and Marie Kondo – and super light on the most successful woman of all the ones mentioned – a white woman, Gwyneth Paltrow (she didn’t mention her specifically, but referred to her site Goop). That set Twitter a blaze calling her all kinds of racists among other things.

Chrissy Teigen clapped back, like she normally does, which prompted Alison to apologize.

Interestingly enough, Chrissy’s clap back was pretty light, treating Alison with kid gloves, in much the same way Alison treated Gwyneth.  That was surprising considering Chrissy can be thought of as the queen of Twitter clap backs. She’s known for going in and destroying people who come for her, in snarky, clever, yet cutthroat ways. This time, not so much. Instead, she felt the need to explain her success. She even took it further by conveying her feelings were hurt.

I don’t know if Marie Kondo has responded yet. I just got wind of this story about 30 minutes ago, but I’ll look into it and possibly update.

You don’t have to read the interview to get all the information I just reported. It’s right there on Twitter. But of course I did read the interview, and yeah, it was pretty damning. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt as I do all people – I mean you know, to the best of my biased ability – but this woman was, I don’t know, how do you say? Bad from the beginning.

She comes across as one of those women who tries to seem authentic by making it seem like she’s not interested in fame and fortune. Someone who only does things that, ahem, sparks joy, rather than taking on a project simply because it’s lucrative.

To prove that she’s not fake, she goes on to talk about all the things she wouldn’t do, along with mentioning that she’s had opportunities that she’s turned down.  She further tries to give herself a seal of authenticity by being semi-self-deprecating, while dragging Chrissy and Marie along the way.

But guess what? To some extent it worked. Now, I know who the fuck Alison Roman is. And so does thousands more who never would have had she not brought up two successful women, who she clearly comes across as jealous of.

To be honest, there is a part of me that respects…no, can appreciate her saying what she said. And I definitely defend her right to say it. I much rather stuff like that be out in the open.  After all, that’s life. People are jealous of people. People try and sabotage other people. People smile in your face and stab you in the back, while others straight up punch you in the face. People come up with all kinds of ways to promote themselves, even ways that attempt to make them look like they are not promoting themselves.

So now that we know who the fuck Alison Roman is, the question that remains is was this tactic worth it?
