5 YouTube Channels I’m Currently Into

Since quarantine started – which, by the way, I don’t know if we’re still in quarantine – I’ve been watching YouTube videos more. That and the fact that I now have a computer that lets me get the internet instead of just type.

With the news, in the last few months, being inundated with depressing coronavirus updates, and more recently heartbreaking reminders of systemic racism and police brutality, I love that you can go to YouTube and control what you see.

Here are 5 channels I turn to help me do just that. I’ve discovered all of them since the stay-at-home orders went into effect with the exception of one. Let’s start with that one.

Evan Carmichael

I don’t remember when I first came across this channel, but it was years ago. I believe it was his post on rules for success by Tupac that reeled me in, and ever since then, I’ve been tuning in from time to time when I’m in search of motivation.

CNBC Make It

I came across this channel when I the personal channel of a girl featured in of one their videos showed in that column on the right. She was reacting to being featured on their channel, and was featured on their channel because she’s 25 years-old and makes $210,000 a year.  I’m 40, and that’s more money than I’ve ever made in my entire life – like all the years I’ve ever worked combined.  So the fact that she had done it as a regular Black woman, not like a celebrity or anything, I found fascinating.  So I started watching their other videos, which is full of people, mostly at least 10 years my junior making comfortable salaries. But not just that, it tells you how they earn their money and how they spend it.  For the most part, I only tend to watch the ones who make $80 or more. But it’s fascinating how savvy they are, well, most of them.

House & Home

One of my favorite things to do on YouTube it watch tiny NYC apartment tours and Trader Joes hauls.  With the tiny New York apartment tours, I’m just fascinated compartmentalize such a small space and make it look like I wouldn’t mind living there. Not to mention, some of these apartments are like the size of my bedroom so maybe I can replicate their style. Anyhoo, that’s I came across this channel. What I love about this channel is most of their videos are short, yet, you’re not cheated on the details of the featured homes beautiful designs.  Most home tours don’t need 20 or 30 minutes. I usually find myself fast forwarding to the next room on those. But these are short and cute with major design inspo appeal.

Erin May Henry

So if you’ve been reading this blog for a minute, you’ll know that I’m currently in the process of pursuing my purpose. Along the way I’ve encounter a lot of challenges, like staying motivated and being organized and so on. So I turned to YouTube for help and came across this channel. I really love the way she breaks things down and makes it so simple. Like even if I don’t always follow through, her videos makes the possibility of following through less intimidating.

Celia DW

I literally just discovered this channel this past weekend. I was probably looking for home décor videos or something. But I really like this channel because it’s more lifestyle than just one specific thing like the others. I love to see how other people live, and she has natural hair with a small apartment in New York. The channel focuses on her life with her boyfriend, they travel, that decorate their apartment, and they have tons of plants. I want to get a couple plants. Some of these videos can run a little long, I love getting a peek into their relationship and their home.

Well, that’s it for now – happy YouTubing. I’m about to eat some eat dark chocolate covered almonds with Himalayan salt. Just thought I’d share. Bye.
