Thanks for Spending the Month With Me!

Look I made it to the end! I may be crawling over the finish line, but a win’s a win! I start stuff from time to time, but I’m not that good at finishing it. When things get hard, I tend to give up, just quit. Sure I come back to it every now and then, you know, try again, but a lot of times when the going gets tough, I get going.  And this – I don’t know what to call it, little writing adventure – was tough…at least for me. But I was determined to complete it no matter what, and I’m glad I did.

Before I run off the litany of things I thought I could do better (to myself, not here), I’m just going to congratulate myself for one of the things that I did right and that’s showing up everyday to write. I had planned on writing several posts at a time and then scheduling the postings, which would have been the better thing to do, but it didn’t turn out that way. So, instead, I came to the computer every night even when I was in Seattle, and churned something out for you, and for me too.

What resulted was not exactly what I planned for it to be, it was not exactly what I hoped it would be, but maybe something in it was still meant to be. I hoped that you enjoyed reading it. I hope that it inspired you in some way. I hope that it made you think, made you laugh, made you relate. Rather you read one post or them all, thanks so much for stopping by.

And now, since it is Halloween and all (but the only ghost here is the Holy Ghost) I’m about to go do something really scary.  I’m about to go read every single post I posted this month.

Thank again, and see you soon!

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!

Mood…

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. — Psalm 46:4

Lord, let me be that river.
