Just got finished watching the movie 127 Hours. My mother DVR’d it yesterday because she was falling asleep on it. So I replayed it for her today and decided to join her watching it. She, again, fell asleep on it, but I didn’t. I watched every bit. It was fascinating. I was already familiar with this story. I saw this guy, Aron Ralston, on Oprah back in the day. I don’t think Danny Boyle was the right director for it. I don’t think his storytelling style meshes well with the sentiment those circumstances emitted. Of course I’m comparing it to Cast Away, which is one of my favorite movies right now, and I think Robert Zemeckis did a much better job with developing the story and moving it along. I didn’t like the jaggedness of this movie’s edits. I didn’t like the insertion of most flashbacks. Yet the story itself is so moving that it didn’t matter. I can’t get enough of a story about someone helping to create their on miracle.
