Guess Who’s, Guess Who’s, Guess Who’s, Guess Who’s Back

I know, that’s a lot of “guess who’s,” right? It’s in reference to the theme song from season 3 of one of my favorite sit-coms “Martin.” Sit-com theme songs are kind of a theme for today’s post, or maybe a…

Discovering I Need a Break

Recently I was watching an episode of “The Real” and they were talking about moving in silence versus telling your business, or your plans. Basically, Adrienne and Jordin Sparks, who was guest co-hosting, agreed that they prefer moving in silence….

The Beauty of Failure

This is not the post I intended it to be. I planned on this being my inaugural interview post. You know, like I promised here all the way back in October. Man, I can’t believe it was that long ago….

The Beauty of Fashion…But

Fashion is definitely a form of beauty. It’s also a form of self-expression. I try to make my style about a bit of both. I used to really be into fashion, especially when magazines where more of a thing. I’d…

The Beauty of Rediscovering an Old Short Story

I wrote a short story over 20 years ago, well, I started it over twenty years ago, and finished it about a year later. It was so long ago that I don’t even remember my writing process. All I remember…

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!

Lord, let me be that river.
