An Ode to the Overpriced Cupcake Companion Piece: A Recipe, Fun Facts & Favs

A couple posts back, I expressed my concern that cupcakes — specifically the overpriced ones from bakeshops that specialize in cupcakes, not the ones at grocery stores — just don’t seem to be a thing like they used to be….

My Self-Publishing Journey: What Ever Happened to My Book?

A bookcase full of books overlayed with the heading My Pub Date, the year 2024 striked through and 2025?

It’s been a minute since I’ve mentioned anything about my book, or novella because it’s short – it’s quite short. I’d have to go back and check to see when the last time was and I don’t want to do…

An Ode to the Overpriced Cupcake

Lately I’ve been noticing a disturbing trend. And by lately, I mean in the last few years. Maybe it began right before or during the pandemic. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it feels like the once…

I Miss Christmas Already

I know it’s only March, but I love Christmas time. It seems to go by faster and faster each year. I want it to linger. I want it to start well before December and last way past January. Last year…

It’s been two weeks since it was revealed that Kamala Harris would not be our next president. I didn’t expect it to hurt as bad as it did. Perhaps that’s because I didn’t expect her to lose. There was an…

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!
