Write. Eat Right. Exercise.

That’s my game plan right now, those three things – and God, of course. Always gotta make time for God, who settles me. It feels like I have so many things right now that I can be devoting my attention…

Merry-Go-Round: A Fat Story

I don’t want to even talk about it. I’m not a fan of the subject of my weight, but what can I say, it’s something I deal with. Yesterday I went to the doctor’s office and found out that I’m…

I Think I Want to Shave My Head

Tiffany Haddish just did it. Sanaa Lathan did it a few years ago. And, I don’t know, I want to do it too. Not because they did it, just because I want to do it. But the fact that they…

Friday Night Quick Bite

I don’t like writing on Friday nights, but I’m trying to keep a promise. I wonder would it be better to write these quick little bites, when, for whatever reason, I won’t be writing longer posts, or just not write…

I’m Not in the Write Mood

This is kind of getting redundant.  I feel like I’ve missed out on posts more than I’ve made them lately. Hey, but I never promised substantive posts every time so, hey – you get what you get. Nah, just kidding….

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!

Mood…

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. — Psalm 46:4

Lord, let me be that river.
