I Used to Judge People, Especially Celebrities for Caring so Much About Likes and Then…

Now that I have my own laptop and we’re quarantined, I can peruse Twitter more freely, and more often,  than I could when I was just using my broke-down iPhone 4s.  That’s exactly what I was doing the other day,…

Dreaming for Today

Oprah has this saying she would often mention on her show: “God can dream a bigger dream for you than you dream for yourself.” I never quite understood that because I would always be thinking, “Have you seen my dreams?”…

What I Did Today

Okay, what have I gotten myself into with this daily blogging thing? I actually have some topics I’d like to talk about laying in the wings, but for right now, I’m just winging it. I’ve used wing an awful lot…

The Life Lesson I Relearned While Making Oatmeal Banana Pancakes

So a couple of days ago, I was making oatmeal banana pancakes. I’ve made these pancakes before, a few years ago, in an attempt at eating healthier. I can’t remember where I first saw them, either Instagram, YouTube or TV,…

Guess Who’s Back? In this time of quarantine, my attempt at daily blogging

I was trying to think of a title for this post, and then just now a line a the theme song from one of my favorite sit-coms, “Martin,” popped into my head, so there you go. But anyway, it’s been…

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. — Psalm 46:4

Lord, let me be that river.
