To Go Back to Work or Not to Go Back to Work, That is the Question

And honestly, I’m not sure of the answer. I work in customer service where I have the potential to come in contact with a lot of people. Even though I don’t have any preexisting conditions or a compromised immune system…

Why I Believe Whitney Houston’s Constitution Hall Concert is One of The Greatest of All

A couple nights ago, while playing pyramid solitaire – my idea of relaxing – I was listening to music on YouTube in the background. I don’t remember what song I started with, but I ended up coming across a Whitney…

This is What You Get When I Wait ’til the Last Minute to Write

Just realized I didn’t click publish on this one, my 4/28 post. So I don’t know that I will write a post about something today. I think it will just be a post about nothing (S/O Seinfeld), because it’s 9:20pm…

I Need To Make a Schedule Because…

I’m just not writing like I should. This morning I actually woke up with a bunch of ideas for posts. I even took the effort to write them down with paper and pen. But it’s one thing to have an…

On Second Thought: Why I Think Anderson Cooper was rude to Las Vegas’ Mayor

I first saw Anderson Cooper’s interview with Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman in segments – a two-minute clip here, a seven-minute clip there – after her city began trending on Twitter. So I clicked on it, only to be inundated…

Friday Night Musing During Quarantine

It’s Friday night, though it will probably be Saturday or later when you read this. That’s because I post so freaking late. Anyway, I need to start planning my posts a bit better. Otherwise I’ll continue to scramble at the…

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!
