Guess Who’s Back? In this time of quarantine, my attempt at daily blogging

I was trying to think of a title for this post, and then just now a line a the theme song from one of my favorite sit-coms, “Martin,” popped into my head, so there you go. But anyway, it’s been…

Learning to Forgive Myself

I have a job. It’s not a fulfilling job, but it’s a job I’m incredibly grateful for. In the last two years, I’ve been without a job more than I’ve been with a job, so I just feel so blessed…

Why I Love OWN Series ‘Black Love’

When I first started watching OWN’s “Black Love,” the show upset me for a couple of reasons. First of all, they didn’t tell who these people were. Sure they give the first name each member of the couple and how…

A Lesson on Being Grateful Care of…Well, Read On

If you live in a big city, or perhaps someplace that’s  simply crowded, finding parking may be an issue for you as it is for me. All though we have a garage and a parking space, we also have three…

When it Comes to Reading…

I’m trying to read more books. You may think that because I’m a writer I read lots of books and often, but if so, you are sorely wrong. I’ve never been much of a reader. I’m more of a TV-watching…

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!
