You’re Gonna Fail, So Do it Quickly

I have not failed, not once.  I’ve discovered ten thousand ways that don’t work.* — Thomas Edison The above quote is often attributed to Thomas Edison regarding the advancements he was making with the lightbulb. I put an asterisk by…

Potpourri

Happy New Year! 2021 is finally here, and damn if it ain’t start off with a bang. Anyway, I choose today’s title as sort of a tribute to Alex Trebek’s last week on Jeopardy. I wasn’t exactly a Trebek fan….

Running Late…

I totally forgot about posting today. Okay, not true. I’ve actually been thinking about what I’m going to write today a lot; I just haven’t written it yet. I totally lost track of time. For the past few weeks I’ve…

Hello! Welcome to Shirscribe! I know my face doesn't look so welcoming in this photo, it's just that I did those braids myself and I actually like this pic. But I am really happy you're here, so come on in, have a look around, read a post or 50, comment if you'd like and come back soon!

Introducing My Writing Practice!

You know, writing rarely comes easy for me. Most of the time I mull over it forever, then edit it and edit it,  only for it to still be filled with errors, or just not be quite right.

Part of the problem is I’m reaching for that old unattainable perfection. The other part is I need to read and write more.

So this is me, writing more.

In this series, I’m giving myself two hours to write about a topic of my choice nonstop, and 30 minutes to edit it before I post it here, just as it is.  The great sentences and the incoherent ones with spelling and grammatical errors too.  I’m just going to write and see what it will be.

I’ll be posting these writing practices once a week. I’m not sure which day, and maybe no particular day, just one time a week, with no end date as of now.

I can be so insecure about my writing, so I think this will be helpful.

Here’s to writing and getting better at it!

Thanks for reading!
